2021 Summer Colors To Paint Your Home

father and daughter painting a room blue for a refreshing summer vibe

If 2020 taught many of us one thing, it is that sometimes, just like in our personal lives, our home needs a refresh as well. Many of us spent a lot more time at home than we ever thought possible, and now a good batch is here to stay in our cozy nests. So, after waking up, living, and working in the same coat of paint, it’s time for a bit of a refresh filled with colors.

Not only can repainting your home, no matter if you pick the interior or exterior, a great DIY project, but it can also be a family effort. New paint can revitalize, refresh, and motivate you for a new outlook this summer.

Where To Start With Colors

We also know that choosing colors is a difficult task, and we’re not all design experts. So here at PPG Paints, we help recommend what colors to choose and help explain the process and help you find the right materials for the project as well!

So, have no fear. PPG Paints is here.

Blue – Just What The Doctor Ordered

Blue is known to be a pleasant and relaxing color. Just think of the sky or the ocean, and you’ll realize how nice it is to have the color wash over you. It’s no secret that the past year or so has been rough on everyone. So, gunning for a color like this will help bring some peace and possibly be the color of the year.

This year, we already see blues in a dark hue, so very bold blue walls and deep accents or as a subtle accent in a more neutral space.

Bring In Nature

We’ve all been trapped inside for so long, and many of us are just craving a little quality time with the outdoors (no matter if you were an outdoorsy person or not). If you want to find your inner peace with nature, then why not add some earthy tones to your home?

An earth-tone pallet can bring the outdoors in with some vibrant citrines, deep blues and greens, burnt rusts, and chocolate browns. Bringing all these colors together through your walls, furniture, or accents will create warmth and create comfort in your space.

Travel Without Traveling

Just because all of our travel plans were put to a sudden stop doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your jetsetter appeal. Bring that wanderlust home with magnificent hues like saffron. It’s a color that can ultimately be paired with anything like charcoal, saturated reds, or a nice and refreshing turquoise. Even just going saffron everything can make you feel like you’re out abroad and not stuck at home.

Good Morning, Yellow

At one point, yellow was being called too traditional or too drab. Many people do everything they can to avoid this color, but the answer to that is: You’re not using the right shade. A confident, crisp, and bold yellow can make a room radiate. Think about adding textures to the paint to really bring life into the room and make it comfortable, inspiring, and exciting.

Neutral Is Never Bad

You can never go wrong with going neutral. Whites and light neutrals are the best color, or rather, non-color of choice. Layering different whites with a variety of accents can make every room stand out and feel different. It leaves you with a modern, simple aesthetic that will pleasantly surprise everyone.
